Hebrew Orthodox Congregation has a history of over 135 years serving South Bend’s Orthodox community. HOC has daily and Shabbos minyanim and is open and busy throughout the day. The South Bend Kollel is situated in the shul building, making it a place where people enjoy coming to learn. There are daily shiurim, as well as daily and weekly learning programs for boys.
Our community’s core values are centered around adherence to Torah and halachah and a loyalty to Torah hashkafah and lifestyle. The shul has a serious davening and is a warm and inviting place. Over the years, the South Bend community has gained a reputation for its friendliness and its communal tradition of chesed and generosity.

The Midwest Torah Center is a warm and welcoming center for Jewish life in the heart of South Bend. Founded in 2007, MTC has hosted hundreds of Jews from all over the Michiana region for services, classes, celebrations, trips and events. MTC promotes a lifetime of Jewish growth and exploration, regardless of background or affiliation.
The mission of the Midwest Torah Center is to cultivate relationships with the Greater Jewish Michiana Community to educate, inspire, and learn together in a welcoming and warm environment.

Founded in 1973, South Bend Hebrew Day School is an Orthodox Jewish school with a warm learning environment, dedicated to serving all Jewish children in the Michiana region.

Yeshiva Gedola of South Bend fosters the growth of Talmidim based on a traditional Yeshiva curriculum, emphasizing excellence, both in the breadth and understanding of Torah. In addition, the Yeshiva’s Rebbeim work hard to understand each Talmid’s personal character and how they think and learn, which enables them to grow according to their individual strengths.
We strive for excellence in all areas of study, and our secular program as well is designed to meet these high standards. The end result is to give the talmidim the essential groundwork they will need in order to succeed in life as well as in their interactions with peers and society. The Yeshiva places a special emphasis on refined Midos, emotional growth, and personal responsibility, with the aim for developing the Talmud into a true Ben Torah.
Kollel
The South Bend Kollel includes full time Kollel yungerleit, and provides an option for those who are able to join in the Kollel’s learning for a daily seder. With its members’ advanced levels of learning and the numerous learning opportunities it provides community members, the Kollel has a positive and profound impact on the community. After their formal years in the Kollel, many Kollel members have elected to continue living in South Bend.
